Özet: The Hot Zone'ın hikayesi; Orta Afrika'da yağmur ormanlarının bulunduğu bölgeden çıkan ölümcül ve oldukça bulaşıcı bir virüs olan Ebola'nın kökenleri ve virüsün ABD topraklarına ilk gelişi hakkında dehşet verici gerçek hikayelere odaklanıyor.1989 senesinde virüsün ilk olarak şempanzelerde ortaya çıkışının ardından Washington banliyölerindeki bilimsel laboratuvarlarda virüsün yayılımını önleyecek bilinen herhangi bir tedavi yoktur. Gizli bir askeri SWAT ekibi ile çalışan ABD Ordusu'nun kahraman veteriner hekimi Dr. Nancy Jaax (Julianna Margulies), salgının insan nüfusuna yayılmasını önlemeye çalışırken kendisini ölümcül bir tehlikenin içine atar.
