Özet: New Wales’te geçen bir dedektiflik draması.
Aberystwyth’de yeni bir hayat kurmak için Londra Polis Merkezi’ndeki işinden ayrılan Tom Mathias’ı, eşyalarını toplayıp gitmeden önce zorlu bir süreç daha beklemektedir. 64 yaşındaki bir kadının ölümüne yol açan vahşi bir cinayetin olay mahalline çağırılır. Yalnız bir sorun vardır; ilk önce ortada olmayan kurbanın cesedi, Şeytan’ın Köprüsü olarak da bilinen bir köydeki köprünün dibinde bulunur. Kadının çocuklarının eski -şimdilerde otele dönüştürülen- evi buraya hiç uzak değildir. Mathias tavan arasında, eskiden işkence yapıldığı bariz belli olan bir oda bulur ve olayı çözmeye çalışır.
